The Flies - High

First he played bass with Spiritualised, and then was lead singer with Lupine Howl. Now, Sean Cook has a new band, The Flies, who release the first single 'High' from their debut album.

What begins with a jazz style couple of note turns into an edgy guitar riff, which accompanied with various instruments leads into a chorus that will pierce your ears and have you craving that energetic riff once again. Sure enough it returns for another smooth verse before climaxing into the chorus. Actually, the same riff occurs through much of the track, and as a result you may find yourself tapping your fingers and toes, while singing 'get me high/I don't need your love' and playing air guitar for one of the best electric solos I've heard in a quite calming track.

What begins as a tranquil track turns into an outstanding electric piece of work, and as quickly as it speeds up it slows into an acoustic ending. This is just the debut single, yet already I can see high things in store for the Flies.
