Sia - Buttons
Aussie singer Sia Furler may be best noted for her work with Zero 7, but on this single, she is about to push all the buttons (excuse the pun) and become noted in her own right.
This singer/dancer has some quite inspirational talent. 'Buttons' is slightly electronica and has a simple repetitive beat, which is actually quite striking. The repetition of the keys is catchy, with a musical interlude that is truly soothing. The vocals share some resemblance to Nina Persson from the Cardigans, with the hint of an accent. The lyrics in 'Buttons' are not clear-cut, but are beautifully written. The chorus "I am no good for you/I'm seeing ghosts in everything, I do" is said again and again in such a way that you will begin to sing along without realise you are doing it; you may also aim for the accent with very little luck.
This track was a pleasant surprise on the ears, nice one.
