Plain White T's – Every Second Counts
Almost a decade ago they began sweeping the airwaves across the waters, and now Plain White T's are about to take our shores by storm. Their album 'Every second counts' has some of the most amazing tracks will ever have heard. Bringing a pop/punk/rock punch to their sound, whether its ballads, upbeat tunes, love songs, or break ups, these guys can hit it.
When writing, inspiration comes in events and experiences they come into contact with in their lives. The acoustic first single, 'Hey there Delilah' was written by Tom based on his feelings for a girl. This was the perfect introduction to what these young and very talented American artists are capable of. The lyrics in 'Hate (I really don't like you)' are a little vindictive, concerning Tom and a girl he wanted to be with, but the "love love love love love love" bridge will pull you in, and get you singing along. 'Friends don't let friends dial drunk' seems to be Tom's off beat take on love and life, while the upbeat 'Our time now' looks a little deeper into the emotional side of relationships with lyrics like "This is the dance for all the lovers/Takin' a chance for one another/Finally it's our time now/These are the times that we'll remember".
The vocals throughout the album are spot on, and in perfect harmony with the backing vocals and musical sounds of each track. 'Come back to me' has Tom skipping between upbeat choruses and slower verses very well, the combined vocals on 'Take me away' are superb, and the backing vocals from Mike and Tim are excellent. On this track in particular, the emotion can really be felt in Tom's voice.
Whether you are after some danceable upbeat tunes like the poppy rock 'Gimmie a chance', or heart-warming romantic ballads like 'Making a memory' with its intense mid section these guys have it all. 'You and me' has some funky guitars riffs, 'Hate (I really don't like you)' has one of the best mid guitar solos you'll hear, the fast paced 'Figure it out' will have you wanting to jump with enjoyment, with its banana splits style, the climatic build up to the chorus of 'so damn cleaver' will blow your mind, and 'Write you a song' will defiantly have you waving your arms while chanting along.
If you have ever played an album and skipped though the tracks until you find something you enjoy, then you will be relieved to hear this doesn't have to be the way on this album. 'Every Second C is an album you can listen straight through, and enjoy every second. It looks like when producing this, the Plain White T's realised that every second does count in grabbing the attention of a listener and continuing to entertain and interest them for the albums entirety; they have certainly been able to pull this off.
