Not a cover song.
Its just turned October and there is a strong desire to wrap yourself up in a blanket or duvet and stay wrapped up away from the impending cold snap. Not sure what the weathers been like where you are readers but let me tell you, its been freezing in Scotland the past week. Brrrrrrrrrrr!
However, if you don't have a big quilt to snuggle under, you could do worse than turning up 'Blankets' by Ruarri Joseph, as it's a rather lovely little number that you could easily get lost in. A quiet and mid-paced acoustic number, the treat lies in the rich and warm vocals of the singer. Theres so many lines that catch in your ear and then there are the similarities and familiarities in the vocals that change with every listen. On one listen you get the impression of early Cat Stevens, the next time its as modern as any of the current troubadours hawking their wares on the airwaves, so yes, theres a timeless edge to the delivery of Mr. Joseph.
The small solo near the end of the record is rather brisk and chirpy and overall and there is the feel of 'Rocky Raccoon' from The Beatles in the opening, which isn't a bad thing to reference.
