Single from London band.

With its jaunty, Shins style whistling in the intro, I recognise immediately that 'Five Years Time' is just the kind of single that will cast a spell on me. Its lo-fi quirkiness is refreshing and the folky acoustics and wry lyrics exquisitely endearing. With backing vocals provided by rising star Emmy the Great and recent support slots with both Broken Social Scene and Feist, this London band deserve to be huge and soon. The accented vocals here are miles from the disingenuously laboured ones found on Kate Nash's record and vastly more likeable as a result.

The inherent sweetness at the heart of 'Five Years Time' makes it one of the most huggable I've heard all year and captures a similar spirit to Tilly and the Wall. B-side 'Jocasta' is just as delightful, especially as this reviewer never can resist songs which employ a fiddle. I can only hope Noah and the Whale make many more gems like this and soon.
