Dark and Delicious

The minute the leaden beats kick in Dave Gahan has your on tenderhooks, entranced by the dark wizardry that the Depeche Mode frontman has always mastered. 'Kingdom' is the first single to be taken from his new album, following on from his impressive 2003 solo debut, 'Paper Monsters'.

This track really picks off where 'Paper Monsters' left off; a foreboding cacophony of electro sounds and industrial clattering which laps through your conscious mind as Gahan's ominous, booming vocals lead you blindly through the three minute number. The lyrics question the world that we live in, "Do we believe in love at all?" with a vicious power that's tranformed in the chorus' inspiring mellow trancelike state to a heady station whereby Gahan's words are almost more affirmation taking root in your mind than words you're passively encountering. A promising leadtrack from an eagerly anticipated album.
