the Casuals – Confusion

From way up North, Vale actually, just outside Glasgow, come this brand spanking new four-piece the Casuals. Their debut download only single, 'Confusion', is somewhat confusing in the sense that it is packed with sounds that are deep, dark and very intense, and vocals that are a little peculiar.

From the strong and quite striking guitars riffs, which build in sound along with the drums beats and then explode into a mass of sounds. Beneath the top layer of guitars there are more great sharp sounds. Vocals from Thomas Suter are somewhat out of the ordinary, and a tad mystifying in their edge. They are quite dark, screechy, yet fit into the place like another piece of the puzzle. However, at times the music seems very overwhelming, so far so as it drowns out some of the vocals.

This is an eerie track in its composition but never the less, what makes it strange are the same aspects that make it stand out from other tunes in the same genre. It just goes to prove, something other than the norm is always an interesting listen.
