Polished pop.
The big lad with the big hair and what some consider to be the big voice is back, as Newton Faulkner returns with 'All I Got', the follow-up single to 'Dream Catch Me.' Unsurprisingly, its not a million miles away from his previous single although this number appears to be a lot more polished and restrained than that track.
If that was the song that showcasd the vocal range, 'All I Got' is the song that goes after the radio airplay and the video channel market, such is the laidback yet commercial feel to it. There is the feeling that if this single was released for the summer market it may have fared better as the song does feel better suited to lazy days and sunny skies but it'll probably still hold its own in the autumn.
Lyrically, its all about love and another paen to that perfect partner that makes life worthwhile which is hardly the most original thought transcribed in a track this year but hey, its what sells and given the work put into this act, its obvious there are people needing this record to sell.
Its alright, it doesnt stand out as much as the past track but with the success of that one already in the bag, the need to innovate is less, the need to consolidate is more. Its probably a back-handed compliment but with 'All I Got', Newton Faulkner should be able to consolidate his previous success.
