Almost Too Easy

There's a lot to like about Avenged Sevenfold, they've been around for a good few years now and whilst they've changed their sound a bit they've kept metal at the core. They're one of those bands that you just have a grudging respect for. 'Almost Easy' is taken from what is surprisingly only their fourth album.

The song kicks off with a solid chugging metal riff assault and good driven vocals from M.Shadows. It gets you nodding straight from the off and works really well alongside the purposeful drum beat. What lets the song down is the rather tame chorus, all of a sudden it goes all very melodic and whilst that in itself is no crime you can't help but feel that it would have been better if it had stayed hard and heavy throughout. It does redeem itself with a wicked guitar solo and when it goes back into the main riff it kicks ass.

If you were hoping for a return to their more metalcore beginnings you'll be disappointed but if stayed with them throughout their progression then there's still plenty to like.
