Far From The Last Stop
What a difference a year makes. Back at the beginning of 2005 Last Stop China Town looked like yet another metal band that had cravings to be Metallica but lacked the bite and passion to make you connect with their music, in fact they seemed hard pressed to stand out from the crowd. Fast forward a year or so and things have changed for the Northampton based band with the arrival of a new basis and a move away from their previous record company – all steps that have transformed the band injecting some welcomed raw aggression that screams
With a frantic intensity swarming around melodic drilled choruses, 'For Your Loathe' wraps aggression around vocals that go from yearning insecurity to anger drenched growls as LSCT unleash perhaps their heaviest track to date. Schizophrenic to the very core, 'For Your Loathe' sways from rampant metallic madness to sweeping vocal harmonies that even delve into a 19 part chorus as the single gently makes its exit, excitingly showcasing the progress LSCT have made.
Perhaps deciding life is too serious, LSCT dabble with fun with their inclusion of a cover of New Order's 'True Faith' to mark 20 years of Factory Records. Beefy up the Manchester outfits bitter sweet lyrics and indie dance beats, LSCT truly make the track their own and whilst ardent New Order fans may cringe and rage the reality is that even with added oomph 'True Faith' is still engagingly catchy. 'In Our Veins' continues to find LSCT striving to hook their claws in as charging guitar riffs frantically whip the track into a frenzy that is instantly likeable and insanely contagious.
LSCT's latest single release reveals to all how far the band has come. No longer an act that could be easily overlooked or dismissed the Northampton band ooze potential, proving many, myself included, wrong about their earlier judgements. Let's hope they keep the train on this track.
