Young rabblerousers use Strummer's name in vein.
Normally, when bands describe themselves as any mix of The Jam, The Clash and The Ramones then they are not going to be worth listening to. The fact that they all tend to cite "the sensibilities" of these bands rather than the music does not mean that they are vitriolic, more that they have limited talent.
"Punches Kicks Trenches and Swords", alas, falls into this category. The shouty chorus and fuzzy production does not sound so much as a band on the edge as a band with not many ideas. The band does sound like they are having fun, and this is endearing up to a point, but eventually the staleness of their sound takes over. It's not too bad a tune, but it's not great or even good – the term adequate could have been invented for this record. The Clash may have made one hell of a din, but they were changing the world. "Punches Kicks Trenches and Swords" just sounds like noise. Not bad an effort though.
