Daughtry have had phenomenal success in the US following the release of their first album, due in no small part possibly to that fact that singer Chris Daughtry was on the hit TV show American Idol. If they were British, the merest mention of a 'Pop Idol' would sent most 'serious' rock critics running a mile, but in this case that would be a serious mistake.
Chris Daughtry's strong voice and excellent band have created something of an anthem in the powerful 'Home', already nominated for MTV's 'Monster Song of the Year'. This single blends country, rock, and pop effortlessly in a way reminiscent of stadium rockers like Bon Jovi. In fact, 'Home' could easily become Daughtry's signature song for years to come, if they play their cards right. Sure, it's not the most original piece of music you'll have ever heard, but something about the powerful lyrics and presentation instantly connects with the listener. Something in this song will appeal to audiences across genres. This band deserves to match their US success in the UK.
