This Ain't No Barn Dance

Dressed like they are off in search of the nearest National Farmers Union meeting, Young Knives haven't really been noted for their trend setting fashions, indeed it is their tweed loving attire that tends to get them noticed before their music. Looking more like the country gent than the indie scenester, Oxford's Young Knives music stands in stark contrast to their appearance. Sharply aggressive and whipping from one agitated point to the next, Young Knives have literally sound tracked every Saturday night for indie discos everywhere – not bad for three guys who could give The Wurzels fashion tips.

From the foot tapping beats that herald its start to the anthemic chorus, 'Terra Firma' is infectiously seductive and will have limbs flaying uncontrollably on the dance floor before you can scream "tally ho". Jerky with edgy riffs that wrap themselves around thumping drum beats, 'Terra Firma' rapturously builds to the contagious chant of "Fake rabbit, real snake, terra firma" that takes up residence in your brain and refuses to leave. Catchy and with built in feel goodness, 'Terra Firma' will leave you a quivering wreck stupidly begging for one more shot on the dance floor proving that they may look like farmers but this certainly isn't no barn dance.
