Short and brutal, in a good way.
"I made a mistake, I made a mistake."
Well, Blood Red Shoes, join the club, haven't we all. Then again, not everyone is able to worry about their false steps in such a primal rock n roll manner.
Word about Blood Red Shoes has been building steadily over the past year and with the debut album still not with us, this is a situation that's going to continue for some time. 'I Wish I Was Someone Better' wins as the song title as it is repeated more than the "I made a mistake" line, which is no small feat, but the simplicity of the lyrics works well with the ferociousness of the drumming and the snappy delivery of the guitar thrash.
As a duo, Blood Red Shoes keep everything simple and their dual vocal attack manages to convey a united front, none more so than when the backing vocals fight for supremacy with the lead lines. It's a heady mix of passion and anger and as a song, its going to nothing to douse the increasing excitement in this young two-piece.
The song dashes in and out at top speed and it can only be hoped they would be in as much of a rush to get their debut album out as all the evidence suggests its going to be a good one.
