Re-ignition of thrash
As usual, another excellent thrash metal band have passed under the sweeping radar of most metaller's attention and have only been able to expose a very few lucky souls to the excellence that grasps this band and exaults them above their peers. Coming from Scotland means Mendeed have had an uphill struggle - it seems to be much more difficult these days for a British metal band to make waves outside their own country, while jumpy young upstarts from Scandinavia don't even need to try to shove their way into the now bloated metal hall of fame.
So it's refreshing to see a British band supporting Anthrax and My Ruin and therefore forcing people who normally rely on Sweden for their metal to really pay attention to what's going on on this tiny island. Ignite the Flames takes your classic thrash formula and infuses it so very brilliantly with some legendary guitar work not too far away from metal ubergods Iron Maiden - excited yet?
You should be - it's not everyday a band take a genre that is becoming so tired and transform it into something fresh, unique and interesting. Ignite the Flames is an excellent single and the two other tracks on here also prove Mendeed aren't a flash in the pan - especially Fall To Me, but the excellence of that track cannot be expressed in words.
