Another surprise from indie kids.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to become excited about bands called 'The' something. You put them on the stereo and, surprise surprise, they have a singer who sounds like they're on the verge of tears and have nicked all their riffs from old Fun Boy Three records. It is rather thrilling to report then that 'Lazy Bones' from annoyingly named The Displacements is nothing of that sort and actually a big barrel of fun with some intelligent and offbeat melodies. Phew!
From the confident introduction through the strong production values and ballsy singing, 'Lazy Bones' wins your heart, in the same way that Muse did way back in 2000. This is exciting and exhilarating stuff that demands your attention.
