Yes please.
There comes a time when you start to think theres enough bands on the scene playing the same sort of music and saying the same old things and you deeply wish for something new to come along and shake things up a bit. And just when you think that, another band who aren’t doing anything new manages to do it in such a way that just seems brilliant and you don’t mind getting dragged back into it all again.
Operator Please may hail from Australia but they are in touch with the sound that has been rolling around Britain in the past year or so and could rival the best of what New Young Pony Club could offer up. Yes, operator Please deal in danceable indie pop and carry a sneer on their lips and a skip in their step. ‘Leave It Alone’ is the new single and lead vocalist Amandah Wilkinson is another contender for strong-willed female front-gal of the year with her spiky delivery bouncing all over the clever instrumentation. Its not all drums and guitars with Operator Please, the use of a violin stands them apart from many of their contempories and adds a sense of impending doom and intrigue to the single.
It’s a cheeky indie-dance floor filler that doesn’t take no for an answer and if this is indicative of what is to come from the album, Operator Please could be hearing a lot of people say “Yes please” in their general direction.
