Probate
London/Brighton indie rockers The Others are ready to step out of the underground with the release of their epic single ‘Probate’.
‘Probate’ opens with an awesome bassline that instantly draws you into the song. Unlike many of the up and coming indie bands The Others have an old-skool, eighties-like sound, and it is nice to hear something that isn’t just following the latest trend. The musicianship on ‘Probate’ is great, bass player Johnny Others has a strong and constant presence and the bassline quickly becomes the main musical focus. It’s frontman Dominic Masters’s voice that really lets this track down, he sings in a whiney voice and it quickly becomes very annoying.
Overall, ‘Probate’ isn’t a bad track, The Others have a lot of potential, but the track lasts for eight and a half minutes and it’s not strong enough to go on for that long. Before it made it to the four-minute mark I’d already started to get bored, and by the time it had finished I’d lost all interest in ‘Probate’. The song would have made a much better impact if it had been kept to about three and a half minutes.
