Rotten Hell

After receiving critical acclaim with their album ‘Friend Or Foe’ the Menomena guys are back with their third single from that album ‘Rotten Hell’.

The four guys from Portland, Oregon once again share vocal duties and there are moments when the vocal work sounds very Bowie-esque which is my mind is no bad thing. The experimental band have created something that does sound different to a lot of the other crap that is out there, once you’ve heard ‘Rotten Hell’ you wont forget it, even if you forget the track title and the artist.

‘Rotten Hell’ is energetic and because it’s mainly performed in monotone it’s the sort of song you can imagine all the drunks singing along to on a Friday or Saturday night. The main driving force behind the track is a soft yet tinkering piano tune. ‘Rotten Hell’ will not appeal to everyone, but I think there is enough appeal in the track to see these guys hanging around for a good few years yet.
