Paige
Paige is made up of four young lads, barely out of their teens, but more than equipped to create some pop punk songs that have an inner sense of youthful talent and ambition.
Within the five tracks present on ‘If You Say So’, there are hooks to grab you by the ears, some wonderful harmonies to sooth your soul and enough catchy rhythms to catch your attention. First up id the upbeat ‘Dear Heartstrings’ which mixes a rather rock base with some Indie style vocals. The piano and guitar work extremely well together. This is quickly followed by ‘This is How We Roll’. This number stood out for its beautifully written lyrics, which include the lines “so we raise our glasses high/sing our favourite song to a fading shyline/make a toast to living well/coz I live this life till it snow in hell”.
‘You’ve Got Guts (Shame We’ve Gotta Clean ‘em Up)’ is another well-produced track with keys that support an excellent paced beat and some wonderful harmonies. The guitars on ‘Silhouettes’ give it an emotional feel, which the keys then expand. Its slightly slower than the previous tracks giving the lines “I’m not in love, I’m just lonely tonight, say anything to make this right, with hearts beating faster, this is not what you planned on” a ballad touch; there is quite an emotional ending.
The last track on the Cd, ‘Actions’ starts off much more intense yet still has an upbeat rhythm. The underlying electronic wave flows through as I keep my pen tapping; there is softness at some points with some good vocals.
