Swaggering Indie Beats

South-London threepiece The Shortwave Set have recruited the likes of Danger Mouse and John Cale for the recording of their new single, 'No Social', it's no surprise then to hear that the record is a tight mash of sparkling jazzy beats à la Danger Mouse and rich vocals with a sharp indie kick. "Everyone knows that a dog dressed in clothes is still a dog", assert the lyrics with a equal amount of oblique humour and wit, while the vocal harmonies glitter with full body. In the background there are synth swirls and all manner of twinkling keys and funked-up samples that keep the listener hooked into the groove.

B-side, 'White Lie' is a little more simplified with shimmering syncopated beats behind the soft vocal harmonies that have a fresh and vital appeal. The tinny backing has a metallic, summery glow about it. The Shortwave Set have a pretty original take on the standard indie fare, which is sure to see them receiving praise in the future.
