Cut Copy - Lights and Music
Australian band Cut Copy have decide to spread the sunshine with their new single ‘Lights and Music’.
Offering up a sound often labelled as indie dance or electro pop it draws much influence from 1980’s new wave and post punk sounds. On this one, there is an electronic beat pulsating though the sound waves.
At a festival where music takes over all aspirations and body functions, where nothing matters but the music I can understand where such a track would be appreciated. In another respect, hanging out at your local dive and this track comes on you wont be able to resist getting up and moving. I’m guessing after touring with acts such as Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party, some of their influence has rubbed off.
But me lazing around in my PJ’s in my bedroom on a weekday at 12pm in the afternoon, this track didn’t float my boat. It is one you need to be in the moment, the surroundings, and the atmosphere. It definitely has a lot of potential though.
