Sugar Kitsch Indie Pop
Quirky electro pop master Pop Levi undoubtedly has more than a little hint of Prince about him and latest single, 'Never Never Love' is pretty strong testament to this with its catchy pop rhythm. Clattering beats scatted with handclaps and thick, squelchy electro cool form the basis of the track, with whimsical vocals and joyful whoops adding some neon colour. Pop Levi, like Mika before him, is probably an acquired taste and one you either love or simply cannot stomach; there's just no middle ground with such a kitsch pop tune that enthuses the sugary indie gospel so unshamedly. However, 'Never Never Love' is a slice of summery fun pop genius that could equally set kiddies bouncing around the garden as clubbers shaking on the dancefloor - let's hope that Levi likes the idea of versatility!
