Laura Marling - Cross Your Fingers

It is very difficult to believe that this singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist has only just hit the legal drinking age!

As a folk-pop singer she tends to weaver between soft tracks such as ‘Cross Your Fingers’ something uncomplicated while at the same time entertaining and occasional emotional and moving. This track is just one example of a trouble-free beat, occasional wisps of shakes and taps while developing to a more musical amplitude with sounds like twinkles…it all sounds rather magical you would be thinking. Lyrics such as “cross your fingers hold your toes, we’re all going to die when the building blows” however have more melancholy within the tones.

This track, taken from Marling’s debut release ‘Alas, I Cannot Swim’ ends up being a fairly plain and simple song with not much to take note of, while at the same time pulling at heart.
