Not Enough Underneath
Alanis Morissette returns with another slightly kooky pop tune that's casting its oar into the summer epic pool with little to boast for its claim, other than the singer's fame and a solid, but unexceptional tune. It's nice to hear something a little different with the traditional indie pop accompaniment joined by some synths and very slick production that completes the ready-made for radio feel. The chorus is massive, sunny and very fun, and the verses add some tension and play on Morissette's dreamy, quivering vocals, but there's nothing new or exciting, either compared to Morissette's previous material or anything else out there at the moment.
People who're fans of Morissette's blustery tunes with surely lap this up and rush out to by her new album, 'Flavors of Entanglement'; let's hope that has more variety on offer to entertain those who are simply uninspired by this single.
