Templeton Pek - No Association
I first stumbled upon Templeton Pek when they supported No Use For A Name back in April at the Islington Carling Academy. My first impression was this was a band with a mission; dedicated in making music that people would enjoy and if for whatever reason they came across individuals unwilling to accept the band, then to hell with them, Templeton Pek would just continue to do what they love to do.
‘No Association’, taken from the debut album of the same name, is one of many tracks that evidently show Templeton Pek is continuing with their mission. They play music with terrific rhythms, including choruses that intensify to the limit where it reaches a point of mayhem (in this case three quarters of the way in). Don’t be fooled by the glittering opening of plucking guitars, or stings in the other version, as this is no ballad. It is pure punk rock to the heart and soul.
The vocals accompanying the track do sound a little strained, but after listening to the track a few times over, this just seems to add to the powerful force running behind ‘No Association’.
