Jaunty Indie Pop
With jagged hooks certain to get caught up in your cool indie cardigans and fractious riffs, Popular Workshop fit perfectly with the current crop of indie buzz bands. It's no surprise that they've recently toured with Art Brut as their slightly off-kilter, colourful indie art sound would be sure to warm up any Art Brut crowd; infact you'd instantly guess that they come from "that" London crowd from the sharp guitar stabs and insistent beats.
'Popsong' is a bright, upbeat tune driven along by a frisson of cymbals and jaunty indie guitars. It's not as witty as previous release, 'William It Was Really Something' and some of the guitar meandering leaves you gazing into space a little, but it's nice to have a band willing to throw in some atmospheric guitar sections and not relying on vocals to carry a melody. All in all, it's not the most thrilling, or original tune in terms of sound, but it's pretty and well made!
