Brassy Indie
Rambunctious glam rock with rasping indie riffs and a jerky rhythm with vocal harmonies poking through well-timed stop-start guitarwork, 'Money' is a slick slice of hip indie rock. Jazzy brass and some incisive guitar chords break through into the second half of the track with a funky instrumental section full of lazy coolness. It's a cocky tune dripping in hot indie fun. The final crushing climax is full of overdriven guitars, but softened by "ba ba ba" vocals that add a chilled edge to the forceful melody. It's a bold enough tune, but there's a little too much going on for it to be immediately catchy.
The b side 'Missus' is a gentle acoustic number with heartfelt vocals sighing over a pretty guitar track; it's a little generic and doesn't add much of a spark to the typical acoustic ballad formula, but it serves its purpose in proving that The Splendour have a sensitive side and appreciate different styles of music.
