The Tunics - Somewhere In Somebody’s Heart (Samplers 4,5,6)
Reviewing these songs was strange since the six tracks came on three separate CD’s. ‘Somewhere In Somebody’s Heart’ was made not to impress fans or critics, but to show just what The Tunics are capable of creating and achieving. This Croydon three piece have created a piece of art, literally in terms of the packaging and more so in terms of sound.
I may only be able to comment on six of the twelve album tracks, for the reason that this release came on six separate two track CD’s. But, from what I can gather from the six tracks I have had the privilege to listen to, the rest of the record is going to be just as miraculous as these songs.
First up is ‘Paris France’, a track that flows back and forth between the incessant clapping that does your head in and the amazing strings and acoustic guitar that glides along amazingly. ‘A Winter’s Tale’ has a rumbling opening, with a Latin style ping; unfortunately, this doesn’t last for long. On a bright side, an indie rock centre point causes the revolution of an amazing, upbeat track. The album continues with the upbeat and incredibly catchy ‘The Way It Is’, this track has some remarkable fast paced lyrical content.
Then there is the acoustic ballad of ‘Stay Young’, which with the practically spoken vocals still maintains a rhythm to keep the track, moving and the fans psyched. The album sinks to a mellow hum with the jazzy ‘Whatever Happened’. The vocals are plain and simple with no effort put in, but it is this that makes them fit so well into this number. The concluding track to this album, ‘Shine On’ completes the CD with a rock N roll teaser.
If these tracks are anything to go by, the complete ‘Somewhere In Somebody’s Heart’ album is going to be unbelievable.
