This Is Not For You Single
As Laura Mary Carter strikes another effortlessly dirty riff, there’s a scorned tenderness in her fiendish voice. You can tell something has vexed the lead singer of Blood Red Shoes. As This Is Not For You unravels it becomes less a song and more like one of those terrifying kitchen arguments your parents used to have set to music and lyrics. For a band merely consisting of one boy and one girl, one drum set and one guitar, this is one hell of a racket.
Thanks to the coupley make up of the band, inevitable comparisons have been made with The Kills and even The White Stripes which pays little justice. The band themselves vehemently disagree with the claims, which may explain the rage when they threaten to launch into an frenzy of splintered guitars and battered drum skins halfway through. Or when the stop start, loud quiet dynamics actually lends itself nicely to a likeness with Pixies. You have been warned.
