Chirpy Indie Pop
The Brute Chorus' jangly indie has a perfect summer vibe that even offers a solution to the unseasonable British weather, "Let it rain, let's grow fins!", asserts the bubbly chorus chant. The tune is propelled by fizzy guitars, tin pan percussion and a catchy melody with a fair share of quirky pop fun. There's a sly blues taste to the tune's lazy verse but the chorus is undoubtedly the strongest hook with its kooky percussion and exuberant chants.
B-side, 'Nebuchadnezzar' has a more tense feel with percussion that's tight to a military level and a driving rhythm that really gets into your head. The jagged guitars and synths kick in with sharp licks, while the vocals and percussion are left to lead the tune's electric melody. Out of the two tracks on display on the 'Grow Fins' single, this is probably the stronger and more immediate with a rapturous coda that leaves far more of an impression than the jaunty single's nonchalant charm.
