More Cliched Brit Indie
Already gathering a reasonable smattering of early critical praise Coventry based four piece Pint Shot Riot are a group which look to be heading in the right direction. So much is expected of ‘Start Digging’ the band’s second single.
Truthfully it starts off quite promisingly with some tasty bass work eerily similar to that of the early 80’s Cure. Pint Shot Riot sadly and swiftly descend into clichéd brit-indie rock. There’s the faux-tough guy vocal swagger of Oasis, the dreary done to death instrumentals of The Paddingtons and more than one or two hints at the implausibly successful Hard Fi. In short, you’ll have heard it all before from a hundred similar groups over the last few years.
So if the thought of The Arctic Monkeys crossed with The Libertines sounds like your kind of thing then by all means get wired in, otherwise forget it because this is nothing new and there are plenty of fresher more interesting groups out there to listen out for.
