This Americana sound is folkin’ good.

No stranger to critical acclaim or praise, Micah P Hinson better get used to this situation as latest single ‘When We Embraced’ carries on in the fine tradition we have come to expect from the Texan singer. The fondness for Americana acts has helped Micah and similar artists to come to the UK and gain some prominence and whilst this song is short and sweet, it’s perfectly formed and serves as good introduction to the ‘Micah P. Hinson and the Red Empire Orchestra’ album.

The vocals carry a distinctive twang that immediately informs the listener of what genre this track belongs in and the picked guitar notes double this feeling. We should never get too caught up on genres and styles as a good song is a good song and thankfully this is a good song.

It starts off sounding like its going to be a downbeat mournful track but it gets its dander up in time for the chorus and when the backing vocals ooh and aah in the background it is definitely a job well done. The ending is sweet but abrupt and should definitely have you scurrying off to find the album or tour dates.
