Alfonzo • Shuma

Edinburgh Four-piece Alfonzo, are hitting the music scene with their debut but it doesn’t seem to have the courage to surprise or ascend other singles out at the present.

‘Shuma’ begins very reserved, where the opening holds back a lot of effort. The punch is thrown when the guitars begin, which the remainder of the song focuses on. The taping that intermediates between verse lines is a little out of place, it seems as if the studio may have picked up on a very talented three year old playing with their drum kit in the room next door; this and the lack of creativity are the downsides to the song.

Having said that, this is a fairly straightforward track, rugged vocals and consistent riffs rumbling along like thunder. There is unfortunately no emotional outcome or atmospheric pressures surrounding it, I was left in the same state of mind I was in before the track began.
