Another Top Tune
With a MOJO award for Best Album, new book and BBC night honouring their contribution to the musical landscape, it seems that Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds can do no wrong. Single, 'Midnight Man' is unlikely to break their spell of success; it's a gorgeous melody that draws the listener into the swirling chorus full of heady guitarwork and feisty vocals. The twinkling backing has a fractious feel and drags you straight into the chorus groove of, "Everyone's coming round to my place". There are so many different guitar tones and instrumental intoxication that it’s hard not to find 'Midnight Man' impressive, and that's even before you take the time to reflect on Cave's lyrics, which are always astute.
Bury yourself in the screeching guitar crescendo and engrossing rhythm and salute one of the most creative and consistently excellent bands of our time.
