Pointless but pleasant enough.
‘War Of The Roses’ certainly doesn’t hold back and the high pitched yelping from the eponymous Rosie pushes the track along at a fair pace. The name Rosie and The Goldbug may not mean much to you now but with an album due in September, that may be about to change. Or not probably…
The song is a little bit formulaic and unfortunately entirely predictable from looking at the cover. Don’t get us wrong, we weren’t judging the track by the cover but its hard not to get an impression from three people who look to avoid what most folk would call the mainstream with a feisty looking lady taking centre stage with a keyboard in her hands.
On one hand, the bands music and image is working well so great work on the synergy but it would have been nice if they had mixed things up a bit. Then again, the act is still in the early days so it is probably more important to let more people know what they are about as opposed to looking to diversify.
It’s alright, a little bit off-kilter, a little bit kooky. Thing is, its all been done before and all very similar. Its funny how there are so many acts who want to be different from the norm yet end up all sounding very similar. Perhaps Rosie and The Goldbug add a poppier edge to the mix but its still light electro with standard crazy lady vocals over the top.
