Massive return from Leeds' dance-rockers

There is one word that describes this record perfectly: HUGE. The Music have returned with a wall-of-sound approach to their dance-rock that falls just short of throwing in the kitchen sink. This is studiocraft at its best, as it should be, having been produced by Flood (Killers/U2) and Paul Hartnoll (Orbital). The verse vocals are barely more than a whisper, which makes for an interesting contrast, and then it’s volume to eleven for the lung-busting chorus. But for The Music it’s pretty standard fare, considering the impact they made as newcomers. Yes, it’s a decent record, but there’s nothing that pushes either the band or the fans, and it’s unlikely to win them any new fans on its own. But for those of us who are retro-minded there’s a lot to love here. It’s a given that this will be a track that summer festival memories are made of.
