Follow up to A Very English Summer gets all nostalgic

Four years ago, Future Loop Foundation released A Very English Summer, and now have decided to revisit the same ground with Another English Summer. Well, it does what it says on the tin: the ambient and relaxed vibes recall summer meadows, cream teas, etc. It’s basically a recording of a chap describing his surroundings. The spoken vocals are likely to get on your nerves eventually, however charming and politely plummy they are. And it’s that that makes this simply a novelty record, albeit a very gentle one.

There’s a theme developing here… B-side On The Village Radar is a recording of a young boy interviewing an old lady about her age, her hobbies, her memories of the war. All very British, all very proper. Again, a rather inoffensive ambient record.

So if you’re in a relaxed, happy mood, this is completely inoffensive occasional listening. And I stress the ‘occasional’ because after you get past the wistful nostalgic phase, you’ll realise it’s winter and there’s no real reason for you to be listening to this.
