Enjoy Destroy

‘Little Dreams’ was the debut release by Enjoy Destroy, but it was definitely not the only release they were to have.

It seems that the youthfulness that ‘Little Dreams’ had has gone out the window and been replaced by the mature and experienced sounds that Enjoy Destroy are able to blast from this release much more independently. This self title Ep may only have five tracks, but they are likely to be five of the most influential and mind blowing song you are ever likely to hear.

These tracks see the band develop on the hook laden songs and rich melodies they were able to achieve with the previously release. For example there is the opener ‘Rifles’, the next single, which is so intense in its use of guitar riffs. ‘Holiday Lover’ follows on with an electric beat. The band have without doubt been experimenting with the use of guitar atmospherics as their songs seem to have grown in aspirations and effect compared to upbeat tracks like ‘Screamer’ and ‘Mactier’ from the previous release. ‘When I Choose’ is the song that will blow up any previous doubts you had about this band and their ability as musicians. If you remain unaffected and not totally stunned then I have no hope for you. The closing track ‘Pyrotechnic Eye’ is a prosperous song that probably shows more of the previous album than any of the other tracks on this release, but still includes the same electric rhythms they have built upon over the last few months.

In the opener, the melodies and riffs are so well cohered with Freddie Armstrong’s Cobain style vocals that I sat there with an open mouth, stunned. ‘Something Else’ erupts some strong collective harmonies that never have been so well combined. This release in its entirety put me on the end of my seat with the extraordinarily hypnotic songs Enjoy Destroy can create. You will not be left wanting for anything…
