Gentle blues.
“Oceans and Streams” is classic Black Keys. Taken from their fifth full length album, “Attack and Release” they roll out all their trademark quirks, foot stomping beats, fuzzy, dirty guitars and bluesy vocals. It’s a decent tune, nicely played and with a catchy chorus and hand claps but it doesn’t set the world on fire. The Black Keys always produce excellent singles and this is a very good tune - but they are never particularly exciting. It’s very easy to appreciate their skill and the way they pull of the blues sound with so much ease, however, it’s hard to imagine them being anyone’s favourite band, second favourite maybe but as a rule they just aren’t emotionally commanding enough to have you dry mouthed and tingly.
