Born Ruffians - Little Garcon EP
The heavily touted three piece from Ontario, Canada release a six track EP fresh on the back of their well played single 'Hummingbird', which included an airing on Channel Fours hugely successful teen drama Skins.
Having caught Born Ruffians live earlier in the year at SXSW, I was quietly looking forward to hearing the 'Little Garcon' EP and it sure started off in promising style with the title track a nice chilled out tune showcasing the vocal talents and the multi instruments used between the three members. Sadly that is as good as it gets.
Why they decided to follow up the impressive opener with two remixes, 'Red, Yellow and Blue' and 'I Need A Life' which both at times make you feel like rats are chewing on your brain. Feels like they needed two more tracks to throw on to an EP quickly and came up with these, which really is a disappointment.
Thankfully the annoying remixes are replaced with normal songs, although only of the last three tracks 'Coldness Hot' can be considered of the great standard I was expecting on this EP.
