A Regal Wonder
Bjork’s latest single, ‘A Dull Flame Of Desire’ is a solemn and grandiose affair with regal brass introduction that precedes Bjork’s flickering vocals. Antony of Antony and The Johnsons also joins the Icelandic singer, creating a gentle but memorable duet with lyrics taken from a poem by Fydor Tyutchev really making this into a moving work of art. Drums shudder faintly in the background, leading up to the quaking choruses. It’s typical charismatic Bjork, but on a grander scale with Antony’s vocals suiting the tone perfectly and from the amount of YouTube footage of the band’s live duet, the tune is obviously a hit amongst Bjork fans already.
As per usual Bjork there are a wealth of remixes on the single including a nice instrumental version of the track, which is just as exciting as the versions involving bips and beeps that seem to lack all the feeling that the radio edit version of the track gives across.
