Broken Records - Lies
Edinburgh seven piece, Broken Records, are back with their third single, 'Lies', continuing to show they are band making progress both in talent and stature in the short period of time they have been together. Not many bands get to the level Broken Records have in those two short years, which either indicates a great level of quality or that some label has gone mad in promoting. In this case it is the former.
Opening with the strings section, well violin and cello which seems to be becoming fashionable, joined by vocals and then the rest of the band it all makes for a slow anguished song, which the pain and anger is easily felt throughout. It would be very easy to say they are Scotlands answer to America’s Ra Ra Riot.
If Broken Records continue to produce songs along the lines they have been doing then it will not be long till they become both a national and global phenomenon.
