HelloGoodbye
Before listening to HelloGoodbye, you would be justified in assuming that they are Beatles fans and that their music is heavily influenced by the legendary Liverpudlian. After listening to HelloGoodbye, you will be probably be surprised. There's no denying that they're a pop-punk band - a label which would mean being dismissed by many people who haven't listened to them - but unlike many bands of this genre, HelloGoodbye are diverse and don't bear any pretence of trying to be a 'serious rock band' or claim to be 'real punks' - the most common two criticisms of pop-punk.
The EP opens with the stop-start crunching guitar intro of 'Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn', which is so catchy it's impossible not to love it (maybe once you've heard it twenty times, you'll think differently, but for now, it's great). Forrest Kline's nasally voice, surprisingly, isn't annoying, and actually aids the band in creating a more unique sound. Jesse Kurvink's keyboard adds dance elements to the music which doesn't make it repetitive as can be typical of dance music.
HelloGoodbye's successful combination of pop, punk, dance, and seemingly anything else they happen to be in the mood for at the time of writing the song, almost guarantees that this band are going to end up huge.
