‘Thought She Was Leaving’ marks the official debut single release from Birmingham’s Sick City Club, and what a debut it is; the song was a delight to listen to.
The track begins with an opening of pounding guitars which storm their way through the two and a half minute song; there is an introduction of some vibrant indie riffs creating quite a positive atmosphere with some smooth vocals put across. With such an energetic beat, you can’t help but smile. Even with the lyrics singing about a girl leaving, as the title implies, the song is too bouncy to leave anyone down in the dumps. This song makes a listener empathetic towards the singer; yet gives them an optimistic outlook on the future.
It is strange that with a name that could turn your stomach, Sick City Club has done wonders to make such a vibrant debut with ‘Thought She Was Leaving’.
