Psychedelic stoner rock from the States

If 2008 saw Darker My Love start to make a name for themselves in the States, ’09 should see them work their way into the UK consciousness. ‘Talking Words’ is an infectious, storming single that throws in the kitchen sink and then looks for anything else it can find to chuck in. Here’s a band that finally bridge the gulf between something you’d listen to on a night out, and what you’d chill out to on your headphones. Falling somewhere in between stoner rock, indie and psychedelia, the phrase turn on, tune in and drop out somehow feels appropriate once more. It’s easy to be swept up on the wah guitars and breathy vocals. B-side ‘Pale Sun’ is more of the same, swirling psychedelia-inspired waves of sound and danceable beats.
