The Explosion are here...

I tend to find that nowadays a lot of pop-punk bands often sound very similar and seem to enjoy recycling each others melodies and using the typical pop-by-numbers dynamic in every song they write. Granted, The Explosion are nothing new, but they are certainly exciting and guaranteed to get you off your seat. This is feel good music, but with a sharp bite to it, setting them apart from the many other pop-punk bands swarming around the music scene.

'Explosion' is defined as 'expand and break with a loud noise; a sudden violent emotion', which fits this type of music sufficiently. 'Here I Am' does sound familiar on first listen, but there's no doubting that this band have perfected the pop-punk sensibilities needed to create a fun, catchy song.

The band also founded Tarantula Records in order to release Explosion side-project, The Tonsils and have since released vinyl by The Bronx and Distillers, as well as unleashing Darker My Love and The Lot Six into the music world. These strong punk rock roots provide a definite edge to their sound and despite not having quite the same gritty sound as their fellow Tarantula-approved bands, this certainly isn't squeaky-clean pop.

Releasing their album, 'Black Tape' later this month, 'Here I Am' is great sample of things to come. Keep your eye on this band; they're likely to become huge!
