Flimsy indie.

The Bishops are sounding slightly less retro on new single ‘If You Leave Today’ (apparently citing The Last Shadow Puppets as an influence on their new material, which can be heard throughout) but in essence they still sound like a generic 60s cover band and as the single progresses it becomes more insipid and middle-of-the-road by the second. Jangly guitars, light drums and monotone vocals spatter ‘A’ side ‘If You Leave Today’, however it is slightly better than the flimsy ‘B’ side ‘By Your Side’ which is an even more minimal sounding tune with even more monotone vocals; even hand claps can not save it from sounding like the theme to a dodgy 60s TV show, mercifully both tracks are over very quickly and the memory soon fades.
