Indie For The Youth
Following up their release in December, Croydon’s The Tunics are back with a new single to tempt ahead of their debut album due in May. Bursting with youthful excitement and a socio-political fervour to boot, the trio tick all the young indie rock boxes but is that enough?
With romantic notions about rock n roll tied together with a catchy rush of riffs and a repetitive dose of “shine on” sing alongs to guarantee even a goldfish could remember the songs title. ‘Shine On’ mixes Libertine-esque notions with Cajun Dance Party youthful zeal allowing the track to buzz along on a sweet melodic jaunt certain to catch the ear whilst fuelled with enough summery cheer to put a spring in your step. Sadly though not all is cheery as the marmite factor of the band starts to rear its ugly head, a endless array of exaggerated vocals for the tenth stampede of “shine on”s may have half the population sprinting for the off switch whilst the other half crank the volume up as high as it will go; you’ll either love them the more for it or not, there’s no fence to sit on with these guys.
