Missing That Elusive Part
Touted as Paramore minus the US metal sound (when exactly did Paramore gain a metal tag, must have missed that memo), Essex based Chasing Ora have gone one better and doubled up their female singers. Sharing vocal duties, sisters Natalie and Joanna Jones provide a weighty punch to proceedings, delivering an indie blast of vigour to the six piece band.
Broodingly steady to start, ‘Here And Winning’ finds its feet as the power packed chorus struts confidently in, booming with the joint vocals of the Jones’ sisters to give the track some bite to contend with the thumping drum beats. ‘Running Scared’ meanwhile zooms past in a hail of forceful vocals that give more than a slight nod to No Doubt. And yet there’s a sense that something’s missing from both tracks. The potential for Chasing Ora is definitely there if only they could find that elusive missing part.
